Stargirl

Playground.
The playground was practically empty, like it always was on Sunday afternoons.
All little boys were with their fathers, spending time playing football in park and
all girls were with their mothers, sewing new dresses for their dolls.
But not this girl.
“Hi,” the spunky little girl said and sat on the swing next to an older girl.
“Huh?” the girl said and looked away from her book, “oh hi.” she replied and closed her book.
“What’s your name?” the younger one said and began to swing.
“I’m Yale, and you?”
“My name is Stargirl,” she answered and smiled at her.
“I like your name, Stargirl. Who gave you that name, if I may ask?” Yale questioned.
“My mummy, but she died right after I was born. She’s an angel now.” Stargirl explained and stopped swinging.
“I’m sorry, Stargirl, I had no idea.”
“No it’s okay, daddy says it’s just our luck.”
“How is your dad?”
“He’s good I guess…he has a lot of friends who all like to play with me.
Uncle Danny always comes by to play with my barbies.”
“Ha, really?” Yale said and let out a little chuckle.
“True story,” Stargirl said and started laughing, too.
“But…but I think daddy misses my mummy a lot. He always tells me something about her before I fall asleep. I love my daddy.”
Yale nodded and eyed the little girl.
“You know what? You really look like my mummy, her hair was curly and brown, too. Yale?” she asked and looked at her.
“Yeah?”
“Would you like to be my new mummy?” Stargirl asked and a smile appeared on her cute face.
“Haha…what would your dad think? Not that I know his name or anything…”
“I think he would really like you…and…his name is Dougie Poynter.”
Stargirl said and started swinging again.
